Hans J. Wegner iconic "Venus" shell chair from the very early Fritz Hansen production in the 1940s. The chair is made of teakwood with an amazing grain and patinated solid beech. Stamped by maker "FH". The Venus chair illustrates designer and cabinet-maker Hans J. Wegner's genius by showing features of his main masterpieces : fine material, refined joining, curved, pure and light lines, simplicity.
The Venus chair features a seat and back in teakwood which are cut loose from the frame, creating a light and elegant expression. The subtle inclination of the seat provides more comfort. Hans J. Wegner choose the plywood because first, it was the only technique possible to create a such shape and secondly, it provides an higher breaking strength.
