About the Chair design:
Sørliemøbler in Sarpsborg organized a furniture competition in 1974. A total of 112 drafts were submitted from several countries. The jury consisted of Tormod Alnæs , Ingmar Relling and Hans Wegner . The competition took place in two rounds. For the second round, twelve proposals were selected to be produced as finished prototypes in size 1:1. In 1975, the competition was decided. Jan Erik Lindgren's simple Snurre chair was purchased by Sørliemøbler. The chair is made of wooden elements, mahogany legs and stretched canvas as seat and back. The design and style, with its low seat, was typical of the time and aimed at the youth generation.
