A sculptural icon of Danish modernism, this rare lounge chair by Ib Kofod-Larsen pairs a lyrical frame with a transparent, light-as-air seat. Crafted in solid beech that has been professionally stained to read like walnut—a period-correct practice widely used in mid-century Scandinavia—the frame shows Kofod-Larsen’s gift for organic form: the back sweeps in a gentle curve, the arms rise and fall in a graceful up-and-down arc, and the legs taper to fine points for a poised, almost weightless stance.
The chair has been fully restored and expertly re-caned, bringing back the crisp geometry and warm tactility of its hand-woven surface. The result is a soulful, highly collectible piece that reads both airy and architectural—perfect beside a window, in a reading corner, or as a standout accent in a refined living space. Extremely scarce on the market, especially in this condition. Please see photos for the sculptural details and finish.
Why we love it
Kofod-Larsen’s organic lines and the cane’s luminosity create a timeless, breathable silhouette—rare, elegant, and unmistakably Danish modern.
