    • A beautifully sculptural set of four vintage Danish Modern dining chairs designed by Knud Færch, showcasing the refined craftsmanship and organic sensibility associated with the finest Scandinavian furniture of the mid-century period.

Executed in richly figured teak, the chairs are particularly striking for their broad, sculpted backrests. Each back is gently curved to follow the body, with softened edges and beautifully resolved transitions into the slender rear uprights. Viewed from the side and rear, the craftsmanship becomes especially apparent—the backrest has substantial depth while remaining remarkably graceful and visually light.

The teak itself is exceptional, displaying beautiful chatoyance and expressive grain that shifts in tone and depth as the chairs are viewed from different angles. The warm wood is complemented by long, subtly tapered legs and an open-back construction that gives the chairs an elegant architectural quality.

Another particularly interesting detail is hidden beneath the upholstery: the seats utilize an unusual curved plywood seat support, reflecting the thoughtful engineering and attention to comfort found in high-quality Danish furniture of this period.

The chairs currently retain their black vinyl upholstered seats, creating a handsome contrast against the warm teak. The upholstery can also be customized by Hobbs Modern to suit the client’s interior or project. They would be especially striking upholstered in supple black leather for a classic Danish Modern appearance, though virtually any leather or textile can be selected.

One chair retains its original Slagelse Møbelværk A/S / Danish Furnituremakers Control label underneath, confirming the chairs’ Danish manufacture and adding an important element of authenticity.

Elegant without being delicate and sculptural without being overly decorative, these chairs are an excellent example of the Danish approach to furniture design—where material, ergonomics, craftsmanship, and form are treated as a unified whole. The beautifully carved backs make the set especially attractive around a dining table where the chairs can be appreciated from every angle.
