    • A sculptural and highly collectible Percival Lafer MP-41 sofa, designed in Brazil during the 1960s. Lafer’s work is celebrated for its relaxed architectural forms, innovative construction, and unmistakable Brazilian modernist character — and the MP-41 is one of his most recognizable sofa designs.

The sofa features Lafer’s signature suspended cushion construction, with deep tufted leather cushions supported by a strong exposed wood frame and leather strapping. The design has a wonderful sense of tension and ease: structured, graphic, and architectural from the back, yet soft, low, and inviting from the front. The pillow-like arms and generously cushioned seat create a casual lounge quality while the frame gives the piece its sculptural presence.

This sofa is currently in process and is in the process of being restored by Hobbs Modern. It will be finished in a plush black leather, giving the piece a dramatic, refined look while honoring the relaxed sophistication of the original design. Once complete, the black leather against the dark architectural frame will make this an exceptional statement piece for a living room, office, den, or collector’s interior.
