East Gueridon Pedestal Table in Solid Cast Aluminum by Jordan Mozer, USA, 2005
Incredible biomorphic and organic side table by Jordan Mozer. This metal table was designed for East Hotel is the reincarnation of the bombed out ruins of an old foundry in Hamburg, Germany as a boutique hotel featuring Asian-fusion menus. The piece reflects the inspiration of surrealism and Gaudi. The table seems to be waving in the reflection of a carnival mirror. At once, moving or as seen underwater. It has sinuous curves in all the places. Not a straight line in sight.
Hand-carved wood forms were cast in recycled magnesium-aluminum alloy. The castings were hand polished. Made in Chicago.
Created in 2002-2004 for East Hotel in Hamburg.
This table is in many private collections and part of the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago
