About the Designer:
Niels Otto Møller, founder of J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in 1944, was both a master cabinetmaker and designer. His work is synonymous with Danish modernism, marrying ergonomic function with elegant, flowing forms. Each chair reflects Møller’s devotion to traditional woodworking techniques and natural materials.Møller was deeply influenced by and part of the design lineage that included Kaare Klint, often called the father of modern Danish furniture design, whose emphasis on proportion and craftsmanship laid the groundwork for a generation. He was also contemporaries with Hans J. Wegner, whose sculptural, organic approach paralleled Møller’s own, and Finn Juhl, who helped bring Danish modern design to an international audience with his expressive, humanist furniture. Together, these designers defined the golden age of mid-century Danish design.
