Danish modern “Boomerang” lounge chair designed by Peter Hvid and Orla Molgaard-Nielsen for France & Daverkosen in Denmark, circa 1950s.
To own a Boomerang Chair is to own a piece of design history.
It’s not just furniture—it’s a manifesto in wood and brass, a turning point where Scandinavian design became a global language.Designed in the early 1950s, the Boomerang Chair is a defining statement of Danish modernism’s core ideals: clarity of line, honesty of material, and visual weightlessness. But what makes this chair so extraordinary ——is how radical it was in its restraint.
At a time when most furniture still favored bulk and ornament, Hvidt & Mølgaard stripped everything away. What remained was a pure silhouette: a floating, angular seat suspended between two boomerang-shaped legs, giving the piece its name. The visual effect is striking—sharp, kinetic, and perfectly balanced.
This is made of solid teak and gets its name from its boomerang-shaped design expressed in the frame. This Boomerang chair features cantilevered armrests. The chair is very comfortable because of its danish coiled springs. The chair sits on solid brass legs that contrast perfectly with the rest of the chair. This chair is a rare piece among collectors, which will make it a topic of conversation among your guests. Marked with France & Son logo and metal tag.
